Honda Provides City of Detroit Modified Vehicles During COVID-19 Pandemic
Honda is delivering 10 Odyssey minivans to the City of Detroit. These vehicles have been specially outfitted to transport people potentially infected with COVID-19, as well as healthcare workers driving them.

To help protect the driver from potential infection during transportation, the Honda vehicles have been retrofitted with a plastic barrier installed behind the front seating area.

The ventilation system is set to maintain an air pressure differential between the front and rear seating areas.

The City of Detroit requested the vehicles after seeing news reports about similar vehicles modified by Honda in Japan.

A team of Honda engineers in Ohio volunteered to quickly modify the Honda Odyssey models and delivered them in less than two weeks.

  • Celebrating 50 Years of US Auto Sales
Celebrating 50 Years of US Auto Sales
Honda has come a long way over the past 50 years. Our first sale on American soil came in 1969, when we sold our first N600 in Hawaii. In 1970, we moved east, opening our first continental U.S. dealership in Northern California. We made a bold leap in 1983 and became the first Japanese automaker to manufacture vehicles in the US. Fifty years later, we’re more committed than ever to the USA and all of its people. Today, over 91% of Honda vehicles are made in North America by our dedicated employees in communities across the country. As we look toward the next 50 years in the USA, we reflect on all of our achievements over the last 50.
