Cole Seely fills in for Josh Grant on American Honda Racing team
American Honda announces today that current Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda Supercross Lites West rider Cole Seely will fill in for injured American Honda Racing's Josh Grant at select Supercross races.
Grant suffered an injury to his right knee at the Phoenix Supercross on January 15 that has unfortunately sidelined the popular rider for the remainder of the Supercross season. Commencing at the Indianapolis Supercross event, Seely will step up to the Supercross class on Grant's American Honda Racing CRF450R, joining Trey Canard on the factory team.
After six successful rounds of Supercross Lites West racing action, including recording his first-ever Supercross Lites win at the Los Angeles Supercross event, the 20-year-old from Newbury Park, CA will switch to the 450 class at select races while the Lites West series takes a break until the Seattle, WA round on April 16.
"Cole's a good fit for the American Honda Racing team, and this is a great opportunity for him to gain valuable experience racing in the Supercross class," said American Honda Racing Team Manager Erik Kehoe. "When opportunities like this arise, we reach out to affiliated Honda teams. Trey Canard showcased his talents aboard the factory prepared Honda CRF450R last year when he filled in for six Supercross rounds, and obviously that was a significant career opportunity for Trey. I would like to thank everyone at the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda team and all their sponsors for allowing Cole to embrace this opportunity."
