"It's a huge month for Acura. We're about a month away from the production launch of the amazing new Acura NSX supercar as a pinnacle new expression of Acura Precision Crafted Performance … a week away from marking the 30th anniversary of the Acura brand …and just days away from the debut in New York of our 2017 Acura MDX, the first production Acura to adopt key elements of our future styling direction as showcased on the Acura Precision Concept earlier this year.
Last week, we hosted media from around the world at the new Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Ohio, the exclusive global home for production of the NSX. The PMC, like the NSX itself, challenges conventional thinking and blazes a new trail for the future of Acura.
As the only supercar production facility in America, the PMC also heralds our commitment to local production. Acura was the first international luxury brand to make products in America 20 years ago, and over the 30-year history of the brand, more than half of all the Acura vehicles sold in America were built here in North America. In fact, last year 98 percent of Acura products sold here were built here, at our plants in Ohio and Alabama.
Turning 30 really means we're just coming of age! So, while we have a lot to be grateful for, we are marking Acura's 30th anniversary with our eyes set on a sharp and clear vision for the future, committed to delivering on our Precision Crafted Performance brand DNA in everything we do.
