Honda Rearview Report: May 28 - June 03, 2016
Jun 3, 2016
"Honda already is a leader in applying advanced technologies to our vehicles today that many in the industry are calling semi-autonomous. This week, we showcased some of our efforts to create the automated and connected vehicles of the future at GoMentum Station, in Concord, Calif., the largest secure connected vehicle and autonomous vehicle proving grounds in the U.S.
Virtually all of the public conversation surrounding automated vehicle technologies is focused on tomorrow, but Honda is broadly deploying advanced driver assistance systems to high volume vehicles across both the Honda and Acura line-ups through our Honda Sensing™ and AcuraWatch™ suite of technologies. These features represent a technological bridge to the highly or even fully automated vehicles of tomorrow.
We have established 2020 as a key target year when we expect to put automated driving technologies into practical use on highways. This is a key step in pursuit of our goal to make Honda vehicles collision free by 2040.
Our work at GoMentum Station is part of this effort. The establishment of a cooperative car society is not something any single automaker can accomplish alone. We believe that safe and secure sites like GoMentum Station and M City in Ann Arbor, Michigan, provide a unique opportunity to accelerate technology development and progress toward our zero collision objective."
