Automotive News has recognized American Honda Vice President Jennifer Thomas as a Rising Star in the U.S. automotive industry.

Thomas, who joined Honda in 2019, is the vice president of Corporate Affairs, which includes Government and Industry Relations (GIR), Corporate Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility and Diversity and Inclusion divisions. In addition to her current role, Thomas continues to lead GIR where she oversees the company's legislative affairs, advocacy and public policy efforts for state and federal matters.

The Automotive News Rising Star awards annually honor automaker and supplier leaders, based in the U.S. and under the age of 45, who have the talent and dedication necessary to become the auto industry leaders of tomorrow. Automotive News has published the list of the industry's up and comers annually since 2014. Thomas was one of 25 honorees from a variety of disciplines — from executive management to purchasing, engineering, mobility and design.

Honda started U.S. operations with the establishment of America Honda Motor Co., Inc. in 1959. Today, Honda employs 30,000 associates in America engaged in the development, manufacturing, sales and service support of Honda and Acura automobiles, Honda power equipment, Honda powersports products and the HondaJet advanced light jet.

Based on its longstanding commitment to build products close to the customer, Honda operates 12 major U.S. manufacturing facilities, working with more than 620 U.S. suppliers to produce the diverse range of Honda products. In 2020, more than two-thirds of the Honda and Acura automobiles sold in the U.S. were produced in America, using domestic and globally sourced parts.

Honda also operates 19 research and development facilities in America that fully design, develop and engineer many of the products the company manufactures in America.
