Honda Announces $53 Million Investment in Central Ohio Facilities to Strengthen North American Operations
Company to open data and market quality centers in Raymond, Ohio
RAYMOND, OH - October 31, 2016 – Honda today announced new investment of $53 million for the construction of two buildings on its Central Ohio campus that will house information technology operations and market quality operations for Honda in North America.
The 38,000-square foot Ohio Data Center will join a similar facility near Denver, Colorado, in housing key information technologies for Honda, increasing secure data storage capabilities in North America.
The 98,000-square foot North American Quality Center building will consolidate operations for several Honda organizations under one roof. It will be home to Honda associates focused on product quality in the marketplace, increasing the company’s capability to study and respond to customer feedback more quickly and efficiently.
“Creating a more efficient and effective way for our associates to respond to our customers is the primary goal of our new regional market quality facility,” said Rick Schostek, executive vice president of Honda North America, Inc. “The global reliance on data from North America has grown year by year and our new data center will help us manage this responsibility.”
The two new facilities will be located in Raymond, Ohio and are scheduled to be open by early 2017. Honda worked with local and state government entities on the expansion project, including Union County, JobsOhio, Columbus 2020, the Ohio Development Services Agency and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Honda in Ohio
Honda’s rich history in the state of Ohio began in September 1979 with the production of motorcycles in Marysville, Ohio. In November 1982, Honda became the first Japanese automaker to begin automobile production in the U.S. at its nearby Marysville Auto Plant. Construction of an engine plant in Anna, Ohio and a second Ohio auto plant located in East Liberty quickly followed these operations. A third automotive plant, the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio, started the exclusive production of the 2017 Acura NSX this year, the only supercar designed, developed and manufactured in the U.S.
Located near its Ohio plants, Honda R&D Americas Ohio Center is Honda’s largest R&D Center outside Japan. The facility engineers all-new products for Honda and Acura customers focused leadership in fuel efficiency and product safety.
Today, Honda operates 13 companies in Ohio, producing a wide range of Honda and Acura automobiles, automobile engines and transmissions. The company has continued to expand local production, and since 1982 has manufactured over 17 million automobiles in the state.
