TOKYO, Japan, September 13, 2012 - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced that it earned the second highest disclosure scores among all Japanese companies in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)*1 2012 Global 500 Report (10th annual report) released yesterday by the CDP, which analyzes the world's 500 largest companies' initiatives in addressing countermeasures against global warming and disclosing information regarding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Honda has disclosed estimates of all of its GHG emissions including emissions from the procurement of raw materials to the production and the sales, and from customer use of Honda products, all the way to the end-of-life treatment of sold products in conformity with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol)*2. Such full-fledged disclosure was highly evaluated, earning Honda the second highest disclosure scores among all Japanese companies, with higher disclosure scores than the preceding year.

Moreover, for the second consecutive year, Honda was also listed as one of only 51 companies in the CDP's “Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index” (CDLI), which features companies that have demonstrated leadership in carbon disclosure.

Toward the fulfillment of the Honda Environmental Vision - realizing “the Joy and Freedom of Mobility” and “a Sustainable Society where People Can Enjoy Life” - Honda will further enhance its regional and global environmental initiatives and remain proactive in disclosing environmental information.

As another step toward the realization of this vision, Honda also introduced a global environmental slogan - “Blue Skies for Our Children.” Honda will continue its company-wide effort to realize its environmental vision.
