Honda honored 73 North American suppliers with its annual supplier awards in recognition of their performance in supplying parts and materials in 2019. The suppliers earned awards for mass production products, as well as service parts that serve the needs of customers after they have purchased Honda and Acura products.
Honda traditionally presents the awards during its annual Honda Supplier Conference, an event held each spring spanning the last 35 years. However, out of a concern for the health and safety of Honda associates and business partners during the COVID-19 pandemic, Honda cancelled this year's conference.
"Our suppliers make important contributions to Honda's success and we are committed to highlighting their outstanding work despite not being able to hold our conference this year," said Mark Willoughby, vice president of Purchasing at Honda of America Mfg., Inc. "We value the relationships we have with our suppliers and appreciate their efforts to help meet the needs of our customers."
Honda purchased $32.7 billion in parts and materials for mass production from North American suppliers in 2019. This supported sales of more than 1.87 million Honda and Acura passenger vehicles last year in North America. Honda also purchased more than $1.4 billion in parts from its Service Parts suppliers in North America last year.
"During these challenging times, it is even more important for Honda to work closely with our suppliers to overcome obstacles and help our customers maintain their products with the quality of Genuine Honda Parts and Accessories," said Mark Wiles, assistant vice president for the Parts Division at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "We commend the exceptional efforts of our 2019 service parts award winners and will continue working to strengthen our partnerships."
