Round three of the 2011 AMA Pro Motocross Championship took place at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, PA, over the weekend, and the Honda Red Riders were on the gas in both the wet and dry conditions aboard their Honda CRF250R and CRF450R machines. American Honda Racing's Kevin Windham finished a solid sixth, while TwoTwo Motorsports' Chad Reed scored his fourth moto win of the season and finished the weekend third overall. GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac earned third overall for the second time this season.

Windham crashed hard in practice and took a handlebar to his chest during the fall, yet the Honda veteran rebounded to finish moto one in sixth. Heavy rainfall arrived between motos, but Windham finished one spot better in the wet second moto, taking fifth and earning sixth overall for the round.

"I felt like I'd be on my way by this point in the season, so I'm a little bit frustrated," said Windham. "It's the winner's instinct in me that just makes me want to come out here and win these things. If you've won before you know how addicting it can be. It's why we do this and that's what keeps us coming back even when we don't do so well. To hear all the cheers and feel the fan support is awesome. It's great for Honda and GEICO as well as for me. I have had a lot of success at High Point, and although we couldn't capitalize on it today I still love this track and all the great fans."

Reed scored his fourth moto win and third consecutive overall podium finish of the season, powering his TwoTwo Motorsports factory Honda - prepared CRF450R to third overall for the round. Unfortunately, Reed suffered a midpack start in moto one, and as he tried to charge through the pack, he was struck hard by a rock right on his collarbone. Despite the pain, he still took the checkers in fifth place. In moto two he got a much better start and finished the first lap in third. On lap four he picked off the two front-runners to take the lead, which he held to the finish to maintain his championship lead—a solid 15 points over second place.

In the 250 class, GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac put in a great ride on his GEICO Honda CRF250R, finishing sixth in moto one and third in the second moto for third overall. Teammate Justin Barcia went 8-7 for sixth overall, while Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda's Cole Seely went 11-5 to finish in seventh. Fellow Honda racers Darryn Durham and Alex Martin rounded out the top ten, finishing ninth and 10th overall, respectively.
