More than 20,000 volunteers participated in the second annual Team Honda Week of Service this month, performing several types of community support activities highlighting the vital work of local charitable organizations throughout North America.
Volunteers in red "Team Honda" shirts supported hundreds of organizations from June 9-18. Honda associates joined an army of volunteers from the company's dealers and suppliers throughout the region in 450 coordinated group volunteer activities in 43 states, as well as Canada and Mexico.
"Our dealerships had a great week serving in our community," said Eric Johnson, Director of Community Partnerships at Tampa Honda/Wesley Chapel Honda in Florida. The dealership served meals at a local food bank.
Team Honda provided assistance through a wide range of activities, from food and blood drives to adopt-a-pet events, beach clean-ups and home repair for people in need.
The community impact from the Team Honda Week of Service included:

  • More than 20,000 volunteers
  • More than 54 tons of food collected
  • More than 162,000 meals served
  • Nearly 1,000 bags of trash collected
  • Nearly 700 pints of blood donated
  • More than 11,000 health kits collected and donated

"We are so proud of our associates and business partners who took time out to help improve the lives of people in their communities," said Jeffrey Smith, Vice President, North American Corporate Communications for Honda North America, Inc. "This week shows what can happen when a team of people come together to make a difference."
