"Congratulations to the academic team from Florida A&M University, which earned the title at the 27th annual Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC), an academic quiz-bowl competition featuring top students from 48 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
For more than a quarter of a century, Honda has enjoyed a unique relationship with HBCUs through two unique programs that we helped to create. In addition to supporting the academic superstars of HCASC, earlier this year we hosted the 13th Honda Battle of the Bands, in which students at eight HBCU school marching bands showcased their musical talents in front of 63,000 fans at the Georgia Dome.
HCASC is one of Honda's largest and longest running philanthropic initiatives, with students competing for both bragging rights and institutional grants to support academic activities at their schools. Since the program began, the competition has involved more than 100,000 students and resulted in more than $8 million in grants to support academic initiatives.
At the HCASC championship tournament, we were proud to host multi-generations of HCASC participants – including alumni who were past participants and now serve as coaches and faculty – working side-by-side with Honda associates who lend their support each year as volunteers. You can meet these members of the HCASC community in the video "Legacy of Greatness."
I'm honored to be a part of this event each year that celebrates diversity and academic excellence!"
