"Our Honda plant in Alabama has a very important role in meeting the needs of our customers with the exclusive production responsibility for some of Honda's most popular light-truck models, including the Ridgeline, Pilot and Odyssey, as well as the Acura MDX. With consumer appetite for light trucks seemingly insatiable, and in consideration of future products for our customers, we are investing $85 million in Alabama as the first step in a multi-phase project to advance the plant's manufacturing flexibility and strengthen its efficiency.
In the coming days, we will be taking additional steps to improve our ability to meet light truck demand, with the startup of Acura MDX production in our East Liberty, Ohio auto plant. This fall, all MDX production will move from Alabama to Ohio – enabling our Alabama plant to focus on building our popular Honda light truck products.
This new investment adds to the $4 billion Honda has put into our U.S. manufacturing plants in the past four years, all of it founded in our commitment to build products close to our customers  and the commitment of our U.S. manufacturing associates, some 25,000 strong, who build high-quality and high-value products for our customers in America."
