Statement by American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Vice President of Corporate Affairs Jennifer Thomas On New Jersey Senate Transportation Committee Approval of SB 2004

“The safety of our customers and everyone sharing the road is at the core of Honda Philosophy and why we are proud to support SB 2004, an important measure to improve recall completion rates in New Jersey. Despite the best efforts of automakers to notify and urge consumers to take advantage of free recall remedies, millions of vehicles currently travel on U.S. roadways with unrepaired safety defects. This puts drivers, passengers, and everyone on the road at risk of injury or death.

Today’s vote by the New Jersey Senate Transportation Committee is a critical first step in helping address this problem. We applaud the committee for taking this action and are grateful to Senators Patrick Diegnan and Gordon Johnson for their leadership on this issue. We look forward to continuing to work with the legislature as well as the many safety and consumer groups in support of this important safety legislation.”

Honda has 279 authorized Honda and Acura dealers in New Jersey, employing more than 4,800 people. In addition, Mt. Laurel is home to a Honda parts center and regional zone office that provides critical support to Honda’s dealer network throughout the northeastern United States. This facility employs 125 people and represents a $57.9 million capital investment in the state.
