Honda will voluntarily expand a Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) non-compliance recall announced in April 2013 to additionally include 48,138 model-year 2012-2013 Fit base vehicles in the United States. Vehicles will receive an update for the VSA system software, free of charge. The VSA system on certain 2012-2013 model year Honda Fit vehicles may allow yaw rates that exceed certain U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) requirements. This issue was originally discovered during FMVSS compliance testing, and Honda is not aware of any related crashes or injuries.

The original recall initiated in April 2013 included only certain Fit Sport models in the US. With this expansion, a total of 91,920 Fit models sold in the US are now included in the recall.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage owners of all affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from American Honda. Mailed notification will be sent to customers in early-August 2013, and at that time, owners of vehicles from the affected model years will be able to determine if their vehicles require repair by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (800) 999-1009 and selecting option 4.
