Honda Classic Breaks Fundraising Record – Again
The Honda Classic golf tournament raised $3.2 million for charities this year, setting a new record of charitable giving for the 10th year in a row. The money will be awarded to 50 local organizations this summer, a celebration known as Honda Classic Cares.
Honda has been a key sponsor of the tournament for 35 years and this year, renewed its sponsorship through 2021.
The Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation is receiving an unprecedented individual grant of $1 million. The gift to Jupiter Medical Center is the leading donation for the Foundation’s $5 million project.
The golf tournament also sponsors a summer camp for 35 children at the YMCA of the Palm Beaches, funds a $10,000 golf scholarship at Palm Beach Atlantic University, and recently made a large contribution to the development of a 250-seat auditorium at the Leadership Academy of Urban Youth Impact.
In addition, The Honda Classic gives support with food for kids at the Palm Beach County Food Bank, Cystic Fibrosis patients at the St. Mary’s Medical Center, and caregivers for abused or neglected children at Grandma’s Place, Inc.
Overall, the awarding grants benefit 50 different local charitable organizations and impacts the lives of more than 30,000 children. An additional 101 charities received proceeds from the American Honda Birdies for Children program.
The 2017 Honda Classic will be played February 23-26, 2017 with Adam Scott defending his title.
