Rickie Fowler made sure there was little drama at the 2017 Honda Classic as he rolled to a four-stroke victory en route to his fourth PGA TOUR career win.
Fowler’s victory was one of many exciting moments during the annual Honda Classic. The event saw two hole-in-ones during tournament play. Scott Stallings carded the first and Jhonattan Vegas followed up the rare feat on Sunday. As a result, each will receive a brand-new Honda CR-V and IndyCar experience for the accomplishment.
At 36 years, Honda owns the longest active sponsorship on the PGA TOUR. During that time, The Honda Classic has grown from just another professional golf event to a year-round presence, making a positive impact in the South Florida community through Honda Classic Cares.
The Classic has raised more than $35 million for hundreds of South Florida charities, and last year’s Classic set a record, raising more than $3.2 million for local children’s charities. The Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, chaired by Barbara Nicklaus, the wife of hall of fame golfer Jack Nicklaus, is the primary beneficiary of The Honda Classic. Look for the announcement this summer of the total amount raised this year.
