Alabama associates donate more than 5,500 items

December 15, 2016 – Toys and food were stacked high in the collection bins once again this year for the 2016 Toy and Food Drive organized by Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA). This year, associates donated 5,564 items for the annual holiday collection – the most ever in HMA’s 14-year Toy & Food Drive history.
Over just a two-week period, Honda associates brought in armfuls of games, baby dolls, bicycles and food items to be distributed to non-profit agencies in HMA’s five surrounding counties.
Associate volunteers and collection leaders for many departments helped to sort, count, load and deliver items to the different agencies that associates nominated to receive the donations. In total, 13 organizations were able to receive toys and food thanks to the generous donations.
“This year was the best year ever for our Toy and Food collection and our associates continue to show their generosity,” said Fran Pope, HMA special events coordinator. “This holiday season will be brighter for so many in need in the surrounding communities because of these items and because of HMA associates.”
