HMA Associates Deliver Holiday Cheer at Rehab Center
Associates from Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) delivered some holiday cheer to their neighbors this month.
HMA’s Business Resource Group, African Americans in Manufacturing (AAIM) conducted its first volunteer activity at the East Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center located in Birmingham, Ala. this month.
Business resource groups are associate-led, Honda-supported groups whose members are aligned across broad constituencies such as gender, race/ethnicity, ability, life stage, experiences or other dimensions of diversity.
AAIM associates, along with members from HMA’s Women in Manufacturing visited with residents, sang Christmas carols and provided gifts to each resident.
Associates joined with family and friends to sing old-time favorites like Silent Night, Deck the Halls and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Some members also displayed their musical talents, like Honda associate Aurelia Gooden who played the piano and Quentin Gipson who showcased his skills with the trumpet.
AAIM also donated gift bags including toiletry items such as lotion, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, chap stick and tissues to the 110 residents.
The East Glen residents were very appreciative of the HMA volunteers who lent their time and their voices to share the Christmas spirit and make the holidays more festive. AAIM plans to make this an annual event and hopes it continues to grow each year.
