The Indiana Pacers and Honda Manufacturing of Indiana (HMIN) have teamed up to present the “Dream Big Initiative,” which celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Black History Month, and the countless African-Americans, whose contributions have opened doors for many people around the world.
The Indiana Pacers “Dream Big” program sponsored by HMIN includes several programs and events held over the course of the next month.
To “Dream Big,” kids are encouraged to think beyond their current circumstances. The initiative engages and educates children about black history and teaches them to make positive choices in their lives.
On Jan. 30, volunteers joined together for the “Dream Big Day of Service.” Pacers basketball forward Bojan Bogdonovic, along with mascot Boomer, the Indiana Pacemates and staff from Pacers Sports & Entertainment and Honda associates teamed up to serve dinner at Wheeler Mission Ministries, which serves homeless in Indiana.
Next week, Honda and the Pacers will team up again to help some deserving kids make superhero capes at the “Capes for Kids” event. Students at Ralph Waldo Emerson School in Indianapolis will hear from Pacers Alumni about the contributions African-Americans have made to our country and how dreaming big made them who they are today.
Students will create their own capes with help from Pacers Sports & Entertainment and Honda volunteers, as well as members of the Indiana Pacemates and Boomer.
