- Honda Provides City of Detroit Modified Vehicles During COVID-19 PandemicHonda is delivering 10 Odyssey minivans to the City of Detroit. These vehicles have been specially outfitted to transport people potentially infected with COVID-19, as well as healthcare workers driving them.
To help protect the driver from potential infection during transportation, the Honda vehicles have been retrofitted with a plastic barrier installed behind the front seating area.
The ventilation system is set to maintain an air pressure differential between the front and rear seating areas.
The City of Detroit requested the vehicles after seeing news reports about similar vehicles modified by Honda in Japan.
A team of Honda engineers in Ohio volunteered to quickly modify the Honda Odyssey models and delivered them in less than two weeks.
